Hi Darrell,
Darrell Williams didn’t set out to support three U.S. Presidents.
He just wanted to finish his assignments fast enough to spend the last 10 minutes of typing class writing rap lyrics he had written in high school, dreaming one day of becoming a rap artist.
Raised in Compton, at a time when the city was ranked one of the most dangerous in our country, Darrell figured out early that survival required creativity and fast fingers. So he leaned into both, developing a skill that would become his golden ticket: typing.
But this isn’t just a story about typing fast.
It’s also about what happens when someone decides to do the little things well, especially when no one’s watching.
Darrell’s Admin career started in the U.S. Army, working in a military mail distribution center in Germany, not sorting mail, but offloading and moving massive, heavy bags of it out of shipping containers and into the hands of waiting soldiers. His work ethic and attitude stood out immediately and set off a chain of opportunities that led to an assignment at the Pentagon and ultimately, a position as an Administrative Professional with the White House Communications Agency.
The WHCA is one of the most elite military support units in the country, responsible for ensuring secure and reliable communication for the President, Vice President, and senior White House staff. Darrell didn’t just serve, he soared.
His Admin career spanned 30 years, supporting three American Presidents, flying on Air Force Two over 500 times, and helping lead emergency communications after 9/11. His service earned him induction into the White House Communications Agency Hall of Fame.
